Research Notes

AIM 7-7-4 covers Braking Action Reports and Advisories — when ATC will provide braking action reports to arriving and departing aircraft.

Standard procedure: When braking action reports are received from earlier aircraft, ATC includes them in arrival sequencing ("braking action reported by previous arrival as fair to good"). Pilots adjust their landing planning accordingly.

Pilot's responsibility: Make a braking action report after every winter/wet landing. The information helps other pilots and operators.
