Why You Should Join OUR INSTRUMENT Ground School TODAY

You’ve heard fellow pilots say an instrument rating makes you a better pilot. Not only is this true, but more importantly it makes you a safer pilot.

67% of accidents are associated with continued VFR flight into IMC or deteriorating conditions involving pilots who did not have an instrument rating.

Most of these accidents could have been prevented with well trained, competent, knowledgeable pilots.

If you’re finally ready to make it happen…

then let’s get you started.

YOUR CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

frequently asked questions

There is a difference between ground school and ground instruction. Ground instruction is typically given during a flight lesson before and/or after the flight portion of the lesson. Ground School meets a requirement to pass what is called a Written Test, required by the FAA. This Knowledge Test requires understanding of many subjects areas. Without a Ground School course, students won’t have a head-start when going to those flight lessons, and will likely spend more time and money getting their license. This is especially the case with Instrument.

During your private training, you probably noticed that you get out of training what you put in. In private training you can get away with ‘just going flying’ sometimes. Instrument isn’t the same. Instrument is almost all about the knowledge, and mental preparation. Fail to prepare, fail to learn the knowledge ahead of time, and you truly won’t have any idea what’s happening.

We suggest getting started with Instrument Online Ground School as soon as you finish private. While you build your time for Instrument, you’ll be learning the whole time.

We also suggest you take an Intro Instrument Flight. This will give you a good overview of how things work in IFR, and that’ll help you apply your IFR knowledge to something real.

While you can start flight training without having started a Ground School, you’ll find that your progress is slowed by not knowing the subjects ahead of time. By having much of the book/class knowledge out of the way with a Ground School before starting, you’ll find your progress through flight training is much faster.

The Written Exam is valid for 2 years after the date of completion, giving you more than enough time to go through flight training.

There are three tests required to become a private pilot; a Written Exam, Oral Exam and Practical Test. The Oral Exam and Practical Test are commonly referred to as the Checkride. The Checkride cannot begin without the Written Exam being completed ahead of time.

That’s why we suggest starting ground school first.

Our Ground School will help you complete and pass that required Written Test that you can then take to your Checkride.

We look at Instrument differently. Instead of diving straight into the charts and all the numbers, we lay the foundation of why Instrument exists, and how you as a pilot fit into the larger puzzle.

Our team is experience in real world IFR, which isn’t something a lot of instructors can say. We’ve seen it, we’ve flown in it, and we love to teach what we’ve learned.

This course is accredited by way of our instructors being FAA certificated. However, there are some universities that require Part 141 certification of their courseware. Once you pass a Written Test, that certificate can be used for any checkride.

Everyone has to start somewhere, right? If you thought Private was a lot to learn, wait until you start IFR. There’s a mountain of knowledge. No worries, though. We’ve got your back. We’ll lay it all out, and build you from zero to hero.

We think having a set of books is highly valuable. Instrument is a bit more simple from a books perspective. If you already have books, bring them. The FAA has some great books with the Instrument Flying Handbook and the Instrument Procedures Handbook. Both are free in PDF form, but some prefer to have books.
