CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE (CAT)

Definition

CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE (CAT)

Turbulence encountered in air where no clouds are present. This term is commonly applied to high‐level turbulence associated with wind shear. CAT is often encountered in the vicinity of the jet stream.
