Common Questions

How many hours do I need to fly the MU-2B as PIC?

At least 100 flight hours of PIC time in multi-engine airplanes, plus the required ratings.

“No person may act as a pilot in command of a Mitsubishi MU-2B series airplane for the purpose of flight unless that person holds an airplane category and multi-engine land class rating, and has logged a minimum of 100 flight hours of PIC time in multi-engine airplanes.” — 14 CFR § 91.1711

What ratings must I hold before MU-2B PIC duty?

An airplane category rating and a multi-engine land class rating are both required under § 91.1711.

Does the 100 hours have to be in multi-engine airplanes?

Yes. The 100 hours of PIC time must be logged specifically in multi-engine airplanes, not single-engine time.
